The extremely favourable geographical position of “Transylvania” Airport Tirgu-Mures, both domestically and to the main capitals in the region – Belgrade, Budapest, Bucharest and Chisinau – is one of its main advantages

The catchment area includes the counties of Mureș, Harghita, Covasna, partly Bistrița, Brasov, Suceava and Sibiu, bringing service to a population of approximately 2.7 million inhabitants. Hinterland lies at a distance of about 90 minutes’ drive from Miercurea Ciuc, Brasov, Alba Iulia, Bistrița.

International Airport “Transylvania” Tîrgu Mureș has a favourable natural location near the railway Razboieni, the highway E60 Bucharest-Budapest and future Transylvania Motorway.

Certified as international airport in 2012, Tîrgu Mureș airport offers complete high standard quality and reasonable price in order to confirm the position of low-cost airport representative for the entire Transylvania. By Order 360 of May 4, 2012, pursuant to art. 1 par. (2) of the Government Decision no. 791/2009 regarding the conditions for certification of international civil aviation and international air traffic light and art. 5 para. (4) of Government Decision no. 76/2009 on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as amended and supplemented, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure issued on May 4, 2012 order on certification as international airport of “Transylvania” Tîrgu Mureș Airport.

“Transylvania” International Airport Tîrgu Mureș recorded in 2010-2013 an increase in the number of passengers by over 380 percent making it the most dynamic airport in Romania in terms of passenger volume – from 74.353 passengers served in 2010, 256.713 in 2011 and 300.427 in 2012 reaching a total of 363 398 passengers in 2013.

“Transylvania” Airport has a terminal area of ​​2,800 square meters, with a total of eight check in counters and service capacity of the air terminal of 400 passengers per hour respectively 800,000 per year. Car parking has a capacity of 180 parking spaces and in the near future landscaping work for their extension is expected. In the airport operates a bar and a restaurant, and an ATM is located inside the airport. Passengers can benefit from rent a car, exchange and duty-free services.
