This morning, following the completion of the rehabilitation works, the first international passenger flight took off from Tirgu Mures Airport. It had on board 189 passengers operated by Turkish company Corendon Airlines and destined for Antalya.
This flight was possible due to the acceptance by the County Council of Mures, the authority that carried out this investment, of the works executed today and the obtaining of the authorization certificate from the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority on 25 June, which confirms that on Transilvania Airport can operate in maximum safety.
The load capacity (PCN) of the runway, as a result of technical expertise last week, is 70, given that it was required to be at least 55 in the project wp themes requirements, and before the start of the works it was 26. This makes it possible as from Tirgu Mures Airport can fly with Airbus 320 aircraft, but also with larger aircraft.
The landing / take-off rehabilitation works were carried out by the Association of PORR Construct SRL and Geiger Transilvania SRL, the value of the works received being 56,758,085 ROL with VAT included. Of this amount, 50 million lei is the financing granted by the Government of Romania, the rest being borne from the budget of Mures County.
We emphasize that the priority objective of the Mureş County Council was to make the investment in the best conditions so as to guarantee the safety of the passengers and the international flights to be resumed.
This week will be resumed and the operation of Wizz Air flights to two destinations, namely Dortmund and Memmingen. Also, the Antalya race will be run weekly by the end of September. The management of Tirgu Mures Airport leads continuous discussions with all air operators for the diversification of accessible destinations in Tirgu Mures.
